Idk why you’re so invested in this particular fact even before reading the story lmao but [excuse the spoiler!]:

Maximin was GETTING blind, most likely from being poisoned by his uncle (thus the spitting cobra vs wolf painting). The clues that something’s wrong with his eyesight are subtle, but they’re there, glaring enough by the second reading (that’s why I recommend everyone to read it at least twice). It’s most probably worsened a lot by the time he ditched Jean, so Jean wouldn’t realize it. From what I know, in those eras, disabled monarchs were being skipped / easily deposed, and I believe that’s also why he’d rather have the rebels win with the cost of his own life: if his uncle (who has many supporters from the corrupt nobility and could easily crush the rebels once he’s in power) got the throne, the injustices people in Joachim faced would only continue for who knows how long.
(Also, wdym by “booty cracker” lmaooo)
It seems like you know ur stuff so can I ask smth else too pls :D
What connection is there between Maximin's blindness and that bitch Palatine's backstory of him "looking after" his blind sibling, and Maximin's accusation in his final moments, that sibling and Maximin must be two diff ppl, so does it mean Palatine sa:d them both? bit confused
Hmmm what’s the connection between Maximin and Palatine’s sibling’s blindness… that’s a good question I need to ponder about, lol. Why should he have a backstory of having a blind sibling (from the novel’s translation, it’s specifically mentioned that it was his brother)? It’s either I don’t get the implications from how Palatine’s backstory connects with Robert’s attempt to blind Maximillian, and we should ask other people who do, or it WAS left ambiguous on purpose, I’m not sure…
From everything we’ve seen:
- It’s clear that Palatine was in cahoots with Duke Robert (his house was on Robert’s side). But usually Maximillian chose his bedmate himself, right? So I don’t believe that Robert attempted to install him as Maximin’s ‘friend’. Or maybe they did try to get Palatine closer to Max aggressively after Jean was kicked out, and Max was just like “yeah fine whatever”? He did drugged Maximin occasionally, apparently, but I guess Max wasn’t in the right headspace to care about it anymore.
- Palatine’s blind brother: Was it his older brother? Half (more direct heir) brother? I’m pretty sure it wasn’t mentioned. But the possibility of him poisoning his own brother (and supposed mother probably) to seize the title of heir of his house was there, and Robert was using the same poison for Max.
- It’s possible too that he didn’t go that far and simply was an opportunistic brat who planned to use Maximin (most people believed that Maximin was a dumbass who knew nothing about politics, so) and ditch him after realizing Maximillian would soon be dethroned.
From what I understand, though, what Maximin was saying in that scene has nothing to do with Palatine’s sibling, and just humiliated Palatine’s shameless, traitorous ass by announcing to everyone that he’s a creep who got off without the other party’s consent (who was blind), lol. Also, from this scene and the scene when Jean talked with Palatine, I have some doubts if they were ever in a sexual relationship at all, or Max just kept Palatine there so he could have an excuse to keep Jean away and receive the brunt of his bitchy mode from his heartbreak over Jean, haha.
But I don’t know, I might be wrong?? What do you think?

I have so many things against this manhwa. First things first, the art is gorgeous and okay, puppy seme I guess, but other than that, dogshit.
Let’s start with Hoon getting annoyed at Jaehui for finding his dad ideal when HE HIMSELF jerked off to Jaehui’s dad and called him his “damn type.” Like, double standards much???? Bro got me thinking the only reason why he was obsessed with Jaehui was because he lusted over his own dad’s lover.
Also, please don’t get me started on the dads. Pissing me off so bad, especially Youngsik. Youngsik’s dick should just wither the fuck away. That mf should not have been a dad to begin with—treating Hoon so coldly during his own mother’s funeral. Man, I respect Hoon for not throwing hands. I’d be appalled too, seeing my cold-ass dad going gaga over his ex. Double-faced expired fart.
The unnecessary omegaverse AU The dads deciding on having a child at their advanced age. I’d better see the sequel of their child, and I bet the protagonist of that manhwa be havin Down syndrome while being stuck in a wheelchair because their dads decided to visit poundtown in their goddamn 50s. Seeing how Jaehui was the only one worried about their family tree shows he truly is the one with a brain in the entirety of the manhwa.
YES, exactly! Everyone acts nuts and conscience/reasoning are crying in the corner, traumatised
