Why do I have this feeling that Katsumi is still depressed and the relationship he has with Maki was a way to atone his guilt for rejecting him?.. he does reciprocate Maki's feelings for him since their high school days right?... maybe I'm just too overthinking about the ending.. Katsumi probably gone through some rehabilitation while he's with Maki. 10 years of continuous self-loathing isn't so easy to overcome.
If the story would be longer, I think the possibility of atonement is going to appeared at some point, bcs yes it's true that 10 years self loathing and depressed is not an easy thing to get rid of. Maybe at some point he would reminded of his dirty past self again, and then suspicious of his own feeling. But I can see Maki would be there again for him aaaaaa （/TДT)/
I've been reading this manga since my teens and as soon as I heard the remake, I went off to watch the OVA, MV and re-read the manga here.. I still couldn't forgive Seishiro for what he did to Subaru and especially to his twin sister, Hokuto.
Their time as the dynamic trio was too short.. I loved Hokuto so much in the manga to see her died like that it breaks my heart.
Even more heartache when u see her appear again on X/1999 as the roaming spirit in Kakyo's dreamscape and Subaru's catatonia state.
I wished there was a way to resolve Subaru's bond towards Seishiro.. but it seems, he really deserves to die by the hands of Subaru instead. Really, no matter if you follow through Subaru's story from TB series all the way to X, it's really tragic; from a shy and cheerful teen Subaru to more depressive, emotionless adult. It's just too much to bear
please tell me, which one should i read first? x1999 or tokyo babylon?
The end of Subaru and Seichiro' story is in x1999. But I have to warn you, x1999 is still in hiatus (and it's already 20years...)
