I see so many comments hating on Byul... as if they have never said hurtful words to others intentionally or not. We could all say hurtful words at the heat of the moment, whether we are aware of it or not.
If I was in Byul's shoes, I would have thought that the doting that my parents have for me is out of guilt that I was an accident and my mother even tried to get rid of me. That is how complicated human emotions can get. So, I understand where Byul is coming from, as much as I understand how hurt Hyesung is. Byul found out about him being an accident at a very young age. He may feel loved, but YEARS of supressed resentment must have come to the surface at that point. Byul may even be comparing his own situation with Hyesung's, both being unwanted children at some point in their lives.
The reason why Byul said that Hyesung should listen to the grandma's side of the story is because Byul chose to forgive Hyesung, too. Byul chose to not hold a grudge above the head of the person who had intentions of getting rid of him. Byul chose to look at the love they are giving him instead of dwelling on the mistakes of the past. Byul chose to be understanding, so he is expecting Hyesung to be able to do the same.
Because while Byul chose to give his parents the benefit of the doubt, Hyesung did not. Sure, it may not work out in the end, but in Byul's YOUNG mind, it is what worked for him so he is thinking that hearing out the other person and forgiveness is the best action.
You are all entitled to your own opinion, and so am I. But more than being right and wrong, we should all learn to be more understanding of someone's curcumstances. Yes, we've all seen Hyesung suffer. But just because Byul grew up the way he is invalidates his internal struggles, too.
While it could be easy for some to commit to their convictions overnight, others find it hard to do so. That's why most New Year's resolutions fail. Thus, it would be a forced character development on JK if he suddenly treats KD better wihout a trigger incident that would help JK realize that being a jerk is not the answer to helping him achieve what he wants.
I am not defending JK because I like him. What I'm saying is that I understand his actions. I do not have to like him to understand his actions. I understand why the author wants him to be written this way.
I mean, if ALL YOUR LIFE, all you ever knew to get what you want is to be an asshole, why would you change tactics? It wouldn't make sense because it used to work all the time before. Of course JK is not yet groveling on his hands and knees because he wants KD back for his own benefit. He still has selfish reasons.
For him to start groveling, he must start to do it for selfless reasons. He does not understand KD's actions because he still thinks he did not do anything wrong. He has no reason to grovel. He does not want to make it up for his past actions yet because he's not just an asshole. He's a dumb asshole. Take pity on his remaining braincell and let him figure out that not only does he want KD, but that KD deserves every good thing in the world. Let JK figure out that is is not on par with all that good things KD deserves, which COULD START WITH JK REALIZING HE LIKES KD AND NOT JUST SEX WITH KD.
Please. I'm treating these past few chapters as a prologue to the groveling section. The appretizer. So just enjoy the show. The only other thing getting older than this "reused BJ Alex plot" (which is actually a pretty standard jerk top to whipped lover trope e.g. 'You Get Me Going', 'Ghost's Nocturne', 'POTN', 'Taming the Tiger') is the train of hate comments containing the disappointment that JK is not yet scraping the floor with his knees. You do realize that once he starts groveling, that is the start of the end, yeah?

Well, the same "people don't easily change" applies to KD, too. If all he knew his entire life is to be treated badly with only Granny truly caring for him, how would he know what he actually deserves? Right now, KD's actions are for what he wants, not for what he THINKS he deserve.

Like, it's fine that for now he is still rightly anchored to his past, but I hope that this "evolution" can happen and does not end up as always in a Red Cross syndrome character

I think in the earlier chapters, if I remember correctly, Dan was sexually abused. I wonder what JK's reaction would be to realize during his redemption arc that he is no better than them with what he did to Dan.
JK is jerk but not rapist. He litteraly said multiple times "if you don't wanna do it then get off" like yea It's not nice but he was not "forcing" him, they had deal over money that Dan agreed to. Dan could leave any time or say no. If I had his issues I still.. don't think I would sell my body. There always is another way.
Just because someone gives consent to sex doesn't mean they consent to everything that happens after they say yes. Remember when he shoved that dildo attachment on his dick and then tore Dan apart? The bruising, internal bleeding, and trauma to his body was so bad that the doctor examining him told Jaekyung to chill tf out otherwise he'd end up killing Dan. I doubt Dan expected his "yes" to lead to that. Also, power has a big part to play in their relationship. Jakeyung held all of it, so there's a conceivable argument that Dan couldn't always truly give consent for fear of losing his job, standard of living, and protection from harm (loan sharks).
