Found the manga Honey Bunny with a similar premise so tried it, only to be disappointed by that weird ending. Rereading this to neutralise that one's effect.

It could've been expanded with many characters and already given plot, but keeping it short is fine too, retains a charm.

The emperor Gregor was most interesting character. It was nice that none of the characters were good in typical sense (except Alice the sweetheart). Laurence could've been given better role in story, and Lysia became plain disappointing. But I won't pick every character now, despite being a lot.

I guess it's originally a novel, so it's better rounded there.
Anyways, the political side of the story is made quite detailed by author. The romance parts were, well not. They felt more unnecessary and awkwardly put for romance fans.

There were more loose ends to tie up, but that could've had dragged further, but be mended in background through side stories.
