A prerequisite to go to space was those who were diagnosed with chronic depression. In the first place both Sahan and Philip were already at vulnerable mental states functioning in two different directions. Sahan's mental breakdown was dissociation, avoidance, and negligence whereas Philip's was mania and the other spectrum of extremes. Both of them trauma bonded when they were left lost in space, a circumstance so daunting that it would have rewired your entire psychology. Stuck in a small floating piece of metal with just one other human being, stuck in an environment where time is irrelevant and seemingly infinite with no way of telling of when you could age or die, stuck in between time that feels so close to immortality until you take the initiative to kill yourself. These people leaned onto each other not knowing they're both worn down pillars barely supporting the ceiling above them.
But the thing is, you can never hold the other accountable for the other's mental recovery. That is what family, professional psychiatrists, and medications are for. Your trauma bonding can get you the empathy that make you feel understood, but they aren't equipped or in the position to make you recover or get out of that moment because they're also stuck in that trauma. Sahan does mention this early on, saying that he can't be the one Philip keeps clinging onto because Sahan was distancing himself from what he's observed. He can see it because there is a support system around him ground him. Heegeon was able to ground him. Whereas Philip had no one. He and his family still kept their bets on Sahan to be the one to bring Philip out of that bubble. But you just can't put that kind of responsibility or hope in someone who isn't licensed to do that role.
Sahan is able to laugh and smile because Heegeon is a straightforward and sincere guy, he's always transparent of his intentions and affections, it saves Sahan the energy from overthinking, it saved Sahan the burden of having to walk on eggshels around someone. Heegeon is able to provide that safe space where Sahan doesn't have to he on high alert or dissociate.
It's just really miserable. To feel that things are finally piecing themselves together, slowly healing, and then this happens. You can never blame the one who passed, but it certainly doesn't change the heavy burden left behind. Sahan will end up bearing that heavy burden in his heart like a crucifix. The unspoken self-inflictef responsibility will resurface and he will continuoudly blame himself for what has happened, the worst part is that there is nothing he could do to bring back someone dead. But I know that Heegeon is someone who perseveres and breaks the walls, and time will let such perseverance shine. Heegeon will reach Sahan again the next time Sahan distances himself, and one day Sahan will also learn to let go of the self-inflicted guilt over Philip's death.
We can't really say Sahan was at fault just because he decides not to go, he said he'd still visit next month if he could. As a reader we knew his reason for staying. But Philip doesn't. If Sahan had an emergency, wouldn't it have been valid? Either way Philip had chosen to end his life regardless of Sahan's justification. Sahan's absence, irrelevant of the reason, would have caused Philip's end. And we have no right to say if Sahan was truly justified or not, because Philip had chosen his course of action irrelevant to Sahan's reason.
We also cannot fault Heegeon for pleading. Some may not think their relationship is as significant as Philip and Sahan's trauma bonding, but remember that Heegeon and Sahan spend their childhood together, more so that Heegeon's entire life has included Sahan. He was practically an extension of their soul and heart. Born on the same day, years apart, as if one was just waiting for the moment to finally meet the other. It'd also the same with childhood friends, I am sure plenty here have become so close to their platonic best friends that they yearn for a future of being together even if you and they make their own families. For Heegeon, it was the same and to the next level, he truly yearned for Sahan romantically, platonically, and everything under the sun. He loved him with all his heart too, and it isn't so wrong to plead someone you love to stay - you may think that it is just a flight trip, but you can never know. Plane crashes also happen, car accidents happen, any accidents happen. We cannot blame Heegeon for being afraid, Sahan was once declared dead and escaping 'death' twice is no simple feat. Sahan returning was already a miracle that Heegeon would never take for granted.
In the end, it's important that if we have loved ones deeply struggling, giving them professional help is most equipped and ideal. These people are licensed and trained professionals who can provide the right treatment, timeline, and medications to help them. But as regular people, we are not equipped to carry this responsibility nor can we actually assure ourselves we won't slip into the same mania and depression. People with deep empathy can also absorb such heavy responsibility that they end up emulating and truly living in it instead of merely understanding it. At the same time, it's important to take care of yourself and distancing yourself from situations you know is too much for you to bear alone.
When an alpha much bigger than you pins you down and talks about a permanent mating bond all while your kid is watching. It's understandably terrifying.
Talking about a bond shouldn't be done like that, but in a civil manner and agreed upon without heightened emotions blurring judgment.
I guess seme is just a little more traditional considering he was brought up with love from his parents. He believes that an alpha would look after his omega, that marriage is (regardless if arranged or not) permanent especially once a kid is created through natural process (again, he believes there was a spark leading to mutual connection since that day). He believes that with all the things going 'right', it was only natural for the bonding to happen sooner or later.
There's nothing really wrong with that, these type of people tend to be the caretakers or the provider types of spouses, but if you pair them with a spouse who thrives on independence, who has lived their life in constant scrutiny and judgment, it won't be easy and you can never force them to "settle". These people have to choose for themselves on when they can accept that type of affection because if they let someone else decide for them, then they've fallen back to the very thing they've always wanted to escape from.
Again, I just think such things between couples have to be discussed privately, and especially away from children's eyes. Children observe very deeply and learn things through patterns and can recognize distress (though lowkey that baby looks like it got 2 braincells on vacation).
I'm going to guess that someone is going to try to assault/mark the uke and that becomes a turning point. It's the common yaoi trope anyways, but there's a small hope in me it doesn't have to be that way and that the seme and uke get to discuss it with no other external factors affecting the decision.
Yeah. Munetaka fell for Ayato, but because he was brought in to just produce an heir, he feels anxious and afraid Ayato would leave him. To him, bonding is an insurance that he won't. He is not against Ayato working because omega shouldn't work, but because if he stays home no one will take him and maybe Ayato will come to love him eventually.
Ayato doesn't want to bond because he's scared, which is valid. But he doesn't communicate that properly. And him always rejecting Munetaka feeds into Munetaka's anxiety.
It boils down to the old good communication. They should just sit down and calmly and honestly explain their points of view and feelings.
And I also agree that most likely an attack on Ayato will happen and Munetaka will swoop in like "I told you so"...
Not having rape but just substance abuse and gore is a joke like... There was definitely graphic rape but it feels like these editors/publishers think it's so normal they don't even put it in the warnings.
Overall, I think the story was? Well something I guess. It was so messy and there were too many loopholes. Title should've been cradle robber though lmao.
We got a graphic rape scene and the post-trauma scene, we could totally take an episode of Hyeonwu getting skinned alive ngl.
Also I get what people mean criticizing the uke's character, but I don't think readers also realize that if a character were alive that much trauma and authoritarian chikdhood can actually mess you up psychologically and emotionally. Trust issues, avoidance, inability to discern emotions and read intentions, enough to make you a gullible and helpless adult because you've been gaslit all your life.
To be honest, Wuju was holding himself just fine until the actual rape (not the nonconsensual kiss), but the actual penetrative rape really was a turning point that messed up his signals to discern danger. Let's not forget that one line where he was relieved that Doyeong still liked him even after the rape.
It may not have been expounded on well but that single scene/line was a story of its own, psychologically and emotionally even. The idea of being relieved someone loves you despite being raped is a different cognitive process from being self-assured that rape does not dehumanize your worth. But the way Wuju mentions it implies that he's hit rock bottom and he's relieved someone still wants his broken, disgusting self. And after that he does spiral a bit by being neglectful and avoidant.
The story doesn't depict the trauma aftermath in a top-notch way but there were signs. Alcoholism, lack of self care, inability to even really see his own pain (when he stepped on glass but still walked up to the door monitor to see who rang the bell). He's been completely dissociated from his own well-being and it gets worse the more Hyeonwu actually rattles him by bringing the few people that Wuju cares.
It might not seem like a lot for readers, but Wuju's last line of sanity was Doyeong and for Hyeonwu to involve Doyeong and even the sister into this entire scheme could have been enough to drive Wuju to suicide. Well, I mean he was probably ready to die in that car crash. Again, I think the story lacks in actually presenting the full depth and gravity of consequences and trauma but the groundwork was definitely laid out for readers to read the flow of events.
And I really liked the way Doyeong took actual measures to keep Wuju checked physically and emotionally. He was at a distance but he always looked after him. I wish the author portrayed a few more scenes of monologes but this is pretty good in itself.
Not the best story, but it's better than a lot of modern manufactured yaoislop with ukes getting raped left and right. At least here we see the actual trauma affecting the uke and the seme making conscious effort and steps to balance giving the uke space and being actively there for his wellbeing.
I still stand for the extra episode or scene of torturing Hyeonwu though
I just find it laughable that Byul, who is the most teenager thing in this story is actually siding with a baby-faced pretty girl grandma who has been mooching off of his family's wealth while never making the effort to repent to her own child.
Byul is genuinely Hyesung's most spoiled precious thing, how much more is Byul going to take advantage of that? Lol. You would think that with how much Hyesung loves Byul, Byul would learn and develop to have an early maternal bias but nope. His selfish ass sides with a grandma he barely met, sides with a grandma he KNEW who had abandoned th very mother who showered him spoiled rotten. And even has the GALL to tell Hyesung that he left him too. If that ingrate had any common sense he should be thankful he wasn't even aborted.
Then this old hag would always pull some bullshit saying that Hyesung never looked for her too like? You left a KID a MINOR who you and your deadbeat husband knew was a little dumb and not quite bright. You left a mentally challenged kand gullible kid to survive on his own lol.
He got himself raped and knocked up and now babytrapped into this family fantasy. And we all know how Hyesung was genuinely obsessed with the idea of having family.
Anyways, my peace of mind is knowing that this author just hates their own protagonist. They just hate their own protag and treats Hyesung like a wet rag at the point.
I genuinely would have preferred a typical "take this 1 million or leave my grandson" route or even "i don't care if my grandson has a male mistress so long as he marries a rich woman from this other partner company" from the shitty grandpa over whatever this kidnapping sextortion mess is.
Like if what happened to Haebom was That Criminal, that would put the entire story in shambles because you mean to tell us that Taesung has an actual criminal in his bloodline?
Bffr this isn't even a mafia universe. Taesung's parents are regular corporate ceos not an underworld mafioso.
How do you even wrap up this story without getting the grandpa in jail, Taesung's dad's company in a scandal, Taesung probably taking the heat of the mess, and Haebom just being the worst character downgrade despite all the development he went through in the original seasons. Plus auntie just genuinely disappearing from the picture like...
Isn't it a bad sign (for the uke maybe) that Ryohoe got hard seeing his bf get banged? Because it normally leads to him gaslighting the uke to stay and the seme makes the uke get banged by other men. Well, at least that's how a pwp works and I'm half sure this story is just porn with some excuse of a plot.
I just wish the uke can wake up and fight back. Like not even just breaking up. He gotta kill that guy fr.
I really hope it doesn't end up in the way those porn plots go where seme forces uke to be banged by others because it's the only thing making him hard lol.

I feel like I'm going to throw up from stress each arc. I just need to know when the princess faces her ultimate karma.
All I want the family back happy together. The duke spent 10 years in war, not seeing his daughter grew up and having to witness his own son face war at 10 years old along with him instead of training him to rule their estate and making their economy prosper and citizens happy.
Also I have cannot even remember anyone's names because the translation keeps changing everything that I've lost track
