Maybe it's because I read maho to neko first .... But I don't like them....him being hunted for being a witch and being scared and running for his life.....he did the same to another innocent witch and his familiar for that I can't like him.... even though their story is very good
he was hunting for a witch to save his dad, because his dad didn’t want to for a contract with him specifically cause of the way you have to do it. so he was looking for another with for his dad. i don’t agree with him but there’s a reason for it i guess. And they hadn’t really mentioned him actually hunting other witches yet.
They kind of did imply it, at some point in majo to neko they say juuichi is the last hope/last one left. I understood it as other failed or are already tied to powerful families or something
I somehow thought about it in a way that juuichi is the last one they found that is unaffiliated and at the beginning did not have a familiar. If he agreed to the deal at the beginning it wouldn't have been that bad honestly. But then the dads time was running out and their got more and more desperate. I'm not trying to whitewash them their are still super toxic and true villains, but I feel like they would still have like a trace of compassion as long as their goals are reached.
Trace of compassion? They were gonna drug him up to get raped by the dad or the like or put his heart in somebody that could take his dad as familiar. The duds even said he would stop at nothing to save his dad. I understand it’s his dad, that’s the only redeemable point tbh ….
