There is no logic to it and it's so unrealistic that it's mind-blowing, but I like the couple so it's fine.

I knew that he was familiar! I guess that's what I get for not bothering to remember the names... but I only now learned that this is basically a prequel of one of my favorite stories. Can somebody add the authors if you know how? ヽ(`Д´)ﾉ
