Idk if the author did this on purpose but both the ml and childhood friend are essentially different sides of the same coin. Both stuck in the past and using the mc how they see fit to suit their self-fulfilling narrative. The irony is it doesn’t really make one better than the other because they both are operating on their own selfishness. So for me, I can’t really like the childhood friend more than the ml. They’re one and the same. Just my think piece :3
