But this title, Blood Link and FANGS gotta be my fave vampire romance series.
Sometimes I really wish mangaka were given the same grace manhwa artists are when it comes to serialization lengths. It would have been really nice to see a bit more about Akashi and Roche. And the vampire [heart] plot point is so neat and interesting given most series still go with the stake in the heart or death by UV rays.
It's also very underrated given most people miss that this isn't supposed to be a whirlwind, profess your love from the rooftops romance story. The whole point is that Hisato was deluded into thinking that was what love had to be. This grand fairytale romance where a lonely vampire meets a "princess" to give their [heart] to. It's why the realization that Shuri was special to him all along is so subdued. It's a subtle love that had been nurtured for many years, but true all the same.
Unfortunately, we didn't much time for this reflection period on Hisato's part due to page restrictions... which is also probably why so many people feel like it fell flat.
Also, when did we start moralizing monsterfucking? I mean, vampires are the most safe and vanilla out of the choices ((trust me... you don't wanna know what I'd be willing to toss myself at if they were real lol)) but they are still, by definition, monsters lol "age gaps" don't matter when one of them is literally ageless. The moment Yuuji's mom brought home that new guy I burst into tears. Then I was filled with disgust the moment she said her new man didn't want a kid from a previous marriage. I get that she was hurt by his father walking out, but that is your child. You both brought him into this world. To purposely say something to hurt that child just goes to show that you only ever cared about yourself.
Luckily Yuuji has always had Kirato by his side. Even if they've had their ups and downs, he's been the only consistent presence in Yuuji's life.

It just sucks 'cause people truly cannot choose their parents. It's almost like winning the lottery these days. People value themselves over everything else, and the few that still have compassion get beat down or used.
Luckily I'm an adult now so I don't really need my parents for anything, and I have a support group that helps fulfill my emotional needs. It was just rough growing up in an environment where you feel unwanted.
