Hello guys. I'm on the first chapter and l was wondering if the mc showers any remorse for killing innocent civilians or if she just forgets about it and takes revenge on the king. I've read so many reincarnation manhwas where the mc was some cruel warrior who sometimes killed innocent civilians because they were ordered to do that but when they go back in time they just take their revenge without even mentioning it for the rest of the story. I'm just very sensitive to killing innocent civilians even if the character is orders to do that. I don't think l will be able to continue read past the first episode if her past crime against civilian are not even addressed in the story.

ooo i was wondering this too, I honestly didn't feel bad that she was betrayed by the king and executed since she was a horrible person that killed innocent just to be a loyal dog
I genuinely don't understand Grayson defenders. Every time I read the comments, I feel like I'm losing brain cells.
Did we even read the same story?
People keep saying "but he loved Chase" or "he dosent understand emotions" or "he had a sad childhood." Okay, and what exactly is that supposed to change?
Chase was still the one getting traumatized. Chase was still the one living in fear. Chase was still the one who had to carry all that trauma into adulthood. Somehow people read all of that and still come out of the story feeling more sorry for the abuser than the victim.
That's what I can't understand.
At some point, intentions stop mattering and consequences are what count. If someone destroys another person's life, I don't care if they thought they were helping, protecting them, or loving them. The damage is still done.
It's the same logic as saying, "Well, this person thought killing someone was for their own good, so they're not really that bad." What kind of logic is that?
Grayson's story explains why he is the way he is. It does NOT excuse what he did. Those are two completely different things. Understanding someone's motives doesn't magically erase years of abuse and trauma.
Honestly, some of these comments make me wonder what is wrong with people. It feels like they see themselves in Grayson, because I genuinely cannot understand how else you read Chase's story and end up defending the person who caused so much of his suffering.
And don't even get me started on the fact that Grayson got his own novel and a happy ending.
Why?
Out of everyone in that family, he's the one I wanted to see miserable. Instead, the author gives him a whole story designed to make readers sympathize with him, and apparently it worked because now half the fandom acts like he's some misunderstood angel.
Meanwhile Chase gets traumatized for life and somehow people are still finding ways to make Grayson the victim.

Whatever you said is right. Im not gonna argue on that. But I would like to correct you on few things. Im talking about from the universe perspective not individual stories as all are completely interconnected.
First of all this universe was never about Chase. It started with Grayson's character. The author did write Grayson's story first and then the rest of the stories are either impact of his actions (like chase) or root of his traits (like his grandfather) or explanation of his upbringing (like the father's story). Don't get me wrong when I'm sayin this but Chase's story has a very small part of the universe and it's the only one with less complexity. So ofcourse it gonna focus more on Grayson as author. Blame it on author that she like her main characters to be fked up on brain.
Again, the majority of reader who are supporting Grayson have actually read most of the novels and from there they are able to understand wht Zig wanted her readers to. Never have I ever came across a comment where ppl are justifying Grayson's actions but are understanding how it happened. (Well there might be some exceptions we have psycho readers too). There's a difference between understanding a character and excusing his actions. Grayson's actions can never be justified. Understanding Grayson's character doesnt mean that people are minimising Chase's sufferings. Chase never deserved that and everyone knows that.
So ofcourse, there will be more focus on Grayson character than Chase cs that's wht author has always intended.
I don't think anyone is defending Grayson bc what he did is fucked up. However, since his own manhwa is out now and ppl are curious how and why he can get his own romantic partner, ppl are only shedding light onto Grayson's psychology. He may "love" and want to protect Chase, but it doesn't diminish the abuse and psychological torture he put Chase through. The whole of DMIYC is honestly about how being family doesn't mean they love you, that the people the closes to you hurt you the most, and love is sometimes an excuse to do the ugliest thing to ppl.
You will be happy to know that in DMIYC, Grayson does try to sincerely apologize to Chase on multiple occasions bc he realized he traumatized him, and Chase never accepts it. And good on Chase for that. The novel ends with them never reconciling bc Chase can't find it in himself to forgive Grayson and nor should he be forced to.
Thank you for saying this. This is not about people saying his character gets explained or whatever, it's about people who are genuinely commenting stuff like "Guys, Grayson is not bad, all he did was out of love!", when that doesn't excuse that his actions could have killed Chase more than once and left him with lasting trauma. They can like him all they want but to try and convince others that what he did wasn't fucked up just because he "truly loves Chase" is so annoying honestly.
Though I'm glad that at least (like user Hanna said) the author doesn't let terrible actions be magically forgotten, even in this novel, we the readers learn about Chase's trauma and simpatize with him, but the characters other than Josh don't so they still hate him and think of him as a psycho because of his horrible actions at the beginning. That's a pretty cool thing just like Chase not forgiving Grayson, I also don't like him and I'm not interested in his story and I have the right to continue like that lol.

One thing I do love about Josh is how protective he is of Chase, and how he wants to give Chase the best of everything. It's how Dane got involved with Grayson in the end. Josh roped Dane into kidnapping Grayson so that Josh could tie Grayson up and give him to Chase as a present so Chase could beat him up to his heart's content lol. Josh also never forgives Grayson either.

He has caused too much harm to Chase for me to ever like him. I don't want to read his story because I don't think he deserves a happy ending, and I don't want to justify or understand his actions. It may sound weird 'cause he's just a manhwa/novel character, but I feel that if I read his story, I will be validating his actions haha.
No, so far Grayson only tried once and Chase rejects it because he doesn't think it's genuine, so we still don't know if Chase ultimately accepts Grayson's apology or not.
That apology is actually really important for Chase, and Josh knows that. So we'll have to see how Chase reacts when he finally believes that it is a sincere apology.
I just reread the novel and though we were only shown one scene of Grayson apologizing, in the extras, Grayson mentions he tried again a couple of times but Chase keeps avoiding him.
No he was avoiding him before and was running away from him multiple times and then Dane finally arranged their meeting with the help of Josh. After that there was no mention of chase avoiding him again. Maybe we will see in the upcoming side story
Hm, maybe I misread then bc I could've sworn I read the Grayson complaining to Dane that he tried several times to see Chase afterwards and that he'll keep trying until Chase can see his sincerity but I could be wrong since I was skimming through the chapters to refresh myself.
I mostly went back to ridibooks to see if Zig posted any extra bc the novel finished 2 years ago. But nope, no extras. So what we see is what we get. Unless ZIG decided to add extras bc of the manhwa

I actually read the novel live, so waited for chapters every day for ~3 months.
Near the end she removed the pregnancy tag, and readers started to complain. She was forced to explain on her X account. She originally wanted to show the children in the epilogue, but decided against it and wanted to put it in a long extra which includes marrigae, pregnancy, children etc.
She actually announced two extras for Desire, also in her plans for 2025 and 2026 ( there is also one for KMIYC planned).
Extra 1 (chapter 196-210) which was a short extra, was releases ~2 weeks after the main story ended.
For Extra 2 she actually gave an update in form of a interview with Grayson and Dane on X, when Desire won best BL on ridi, by readers vote. That's why most think that they will have three childen. And Grayson will see and name the "butterfly".
Desire won best BL??? Fr??? The story is actually peak among the rest. Ngl she should have used something else for Chase's trauma if she had plan to write Grayson's character like this. But then again I can get it from a certain point. We are taking abt trauma here so it has to something of that level.
Was it only a year ago? Cuz I read it live with you on ridi. Lol it felt longer (yay, thanks Trump). I checked back often for more extras for 3 months straight but since she didn't update, I thought she wasn't going to add anymore. Which is why I checked again yesterday and still no update. Whooo. Excited for it. I always felt KMIYC felt like it ended too soon. I wanted more of Chase's interaction with Pete or the Miller's reaction to Chase marrying Josh. when we DMIYC started, I was surprised to find out Chase is estranged from his family. I thought that considering Koi loves his kids so much, at least Chase would be fine with him but he is just as cold to Koi as with the rest of his family members.
This is where she annocued the extras.

Thank you!!! I ended up finding the X account on my own. I really loved KMIYC, so I tried the other related series but after reading KML and DMIYC, the only ones I'm really interested in reading now are Bliss (which I know is ongoing) and Chase/Joshua's kids with Keith/Yeonwu's son. The other ones sound so toxic ^^;; especially Angel's story.
On an unrelated note, I feel like Pete, despite being raised mostly by Josh as a toddler, his personality resembles Chase when he was a kid. Versus their next child that looks like Chase but seems to have Josh's personality lol.
I actually started with Kiss me liar, found out about the other planned stories and wanted to read Desrie me if you can, that was ~7 years ago.lol Always when I remembered I checked if there was any news, and in between read some of the author's other stories.
That is one of the reasons why I never hated Grayson, because I got to know Grayson through KML and also read the KML novel. For me he was a weird, crazy, but interesting character in the grey area neither good nor bad. So I already had some background knowlegde of some characters and knew how the universe worked when I read KMIYC.
Of Keith siblings so far Hayden and the fashion designer/millitary weapon seller brother seems interesting, but in the end it largely depends on what kind of character they are paired with. I got the impression halfbrothers ( sons of Angel) get along pretty well, even if we don't know much about them.
Bliss's story, it looks like a lighter one. I don't know, for me Bliss is a bit too exterme in his sillyness etc. Him (Bli-Blair) and Penelope, it's just a bit too much for me, but there are a lot of readers who enjoy it. And there are a lot of chapters with no real progress while everything is so obvious. Now something changed, but we are now past chapter 100.
Also there might be readers who find the age difference uncomfortable. The age difference is ~12 years, and Bliss met Cassian when he was 6 years old. And then went for his revenge trip when he was 17 years old.
Yes, I think so too, that Pete is a lot like Chase and that Cecil is more like Josh with a bit of Chase.
Yeah, I was excited about Bliss at first but then I read some reviews about how silly it is. So I'm letting it marinate a bit before I decide to dive in to see if I like it or not. Especially if I'm gonna spend money on it lol. I gotta know if it's worth it or not.
I mean, out of the other omegaverse I've read, I find this one interesting since the omegas aren't all totally helpless. Well, I guess Josh and Dane are the exceptions.
