You're talking as if fiction doesn't have consequences in the real world, and therefore on real-world issues. People don't just have to move on, they have the right to criticize a story.

It does have consequences irl, and the other way around. What you mentioned could be helped if people respected age restrictions, knew how to separate fiction from reality, put limits to their immersion on this stories,etc (Wich they don't). But people even read this kind of stories as a coping mechanism after trauma and I don't have any right to judge it as if it was just an opinion. Apart from that, what I was complaining about was about people criticizing in a non contrucstive way AS IF others opinions weren't as valid as theirs. You can worry about them, I did too, but no one knows what's behind it.

this and your other comment too. I agree with you that people can read a story and still criticize it. That’s part of the human experience. Especially on sensitive themes. People who are outraged over people being upset about this has some issues imo. It’s one thing to have the capacity for it, and it’s another thing to dismiss that other people can’t be repulsed after reading what they have. The argument that they shouldn’t read if they don’t want to is true but that doesn’t negate the fact people can still respond to what they have consumed. Plus what others read is ultimately not up to us. It’s advisable to use discretion ofc, but no matter what discretion a reader may apply doesn’t affect the attribute of the story - it’s still full of rape and a lot of people don’t enjoy that. Period

Honestly, I don't think even a quarter of the people reading this story are doing so as a coping mechanism, they're doing it for "enjoyment" and because they love dark stories, just because, like "yada yada, obsessive top is so hot." Whether it's criticism, outrage, or even hatred, people have the right to simply say that this kind of story is disgusting. It's just fetishism, and not even the good kind.

Seriously, I hate that argument when it comes to BLs that are so violent yet have no plot to justify it. Everyone would be shocked if mainstream media, like a movie or a straight manga, presented a story like that. Hell, tons of people would be making outraged videos, yet BL readers draw a different line when it comes to BL? If you're shocked by the obsession with rape, bestiality, and the like in other media, why accept it in BL? It makes no sense. I can agree with the "don't read it then" sentiment to some extent, but who wouldn't be shocked by that kind of depiction?
