why do you love this story? like im genuinely curious.

everything about this story apart from the art pissed me off.
the two main characters are one dymentiodnal stereotypes with no real personalities.
(the only somewhat interesting characters were the pretty dude and the lesbian mafia woman...but those two were ultimately just there to be used for convenient plot devices so that also pissed me off)
and the plot...switches between long ass smut chapters to boring, vague and downright ridiculous plot chapters that ultimately builds up to an extremely underwhelming climax that ofc leads to more smut.
and no, it doesnt have problematic elements BECAUSE it revolves around gangsters...its just a badly written story that has problematic elements like many other toxic yaois. like these authors be using "dark setting" as a pretext to write shitty porn fantasy material

i dont think the authors need a pretext to write shitty porn fantasies, i mean its webtoon bls and there a re a ton of them with zero plot at all LOL they don’t really need an excuse to do what they want
i do think you have a fair point that the characters arent super complex and tbh the plot was a bit all over the place at points but i also read the series like i was speedrunning LOL
lastly i just enjoy reading toxic af material. there was something nice abt the bottom admitting his attraction and sexual desires which i found more than in other similar series, and it seemed like the top was really messy but genuinely cared about him. i also like the idea of someone trying to hold themselves back bc they’re bad for the other person but they ultimately can’t — that kind of desire is intoxicating and exciting. but, only in fiction where these kinds of ridiculous plots can play out. and i enjoy complicated unpleasant stories, i don’t need my stories to be perfect and every character to be morally upright, in fact i find it much more interesting when characters are a bit more fucked up. i dont think fiction needs to reflect reality 100%, that’s why it’s fiction. but i probably also just have a higher tolerance for shitty romance stories than you do!

i have no problem with not morally up right characters, i find them interesting, hell one of my favorite manga of all time is berserk.
its just i have no tolerance for shitty writing.

also sometimes you have stories that have an almost bare bone plots that really make it feel they are just there as an excuse for the smut that is happening.
not that authors actually need an excuse to right the type of smut they do
