I wouldn't call this bdsm rep, its depicting an abusive relationship on purpose. There are other BLs that do follow BDSM protocol (to varying degrees of success with consent, but certainly better than this). You don't have to like this story at all but I think calling it BDSM is misunderstanding the premise. The story is centered on how MC's psychology changes to adapt to his environment. Abusive relationships can manifest in many ways, and this is one of them.
I do agree however the usage of BDSM themes and plays such as pet play, impact play and usage of bondage and toys repeatedly without consent does give it a misrepresented image of BDSM. I agree that, though it is not explicitly the genre, an air of sadism is in place with the ML as he has explicitly stated he enjoys seeing MC in pain. Furthermore, I also agree that it follows MC’s psychology, and the changing of it, however that doesn’t erase the method that induced that change— which is sexual torture, something that is usually related to or heavily associated with BDSM.
Thanks for your response. I guess I just disagree and think there is a distinction between sexual torture and BDSM (which hinges on consent). I recognize some of the methods used might be similar in design to BDSM, like impact play, but in practice look different. For instance the seme, like you said is sadistic, and is simply hitting the uke due to his anger and there is no play involved. The seme blackmailed the uke and essentially kidnapped him. So I associate this "genre" (for the lack of a better term) to kidnapping, torture and confinement. I think there is a place for this story, because some people do get trapped in these situations and have violence nonconsensually inflicted on them. And its worth exploring how that violence affects people. Maybe this is cutting hairs too thinly; I can see this story being put on BDSM rec lists, or someone who is interested in BDSM reading this because of the bondage and different acts involved. So I do get your point.
More generally I also recognize that its a shame that many BL fail to depict healthy BDSM. Personally I think something like the BDSM side story of BJ Alex (I dont like this manhwa but its the first example I can think of) is more harmful BDSM rep because the couple is explicitly doing BDSM that is initially consensually and the seme fails to follow protocol and the uke ends up loving it. So I understand how its upsetting. I hope you are able to find stories you like in the future.

I do agree that it is not the implied genre, and may not be directly tied to BDSM at all, however, people outside the community generally tend to group similar actions together, so even sexual torture is inherently intertwined with most of the BL genre, specifically in psychological horror/thriller sub-genres of it.Because of the trend of grouping similar actions together (in this case Consent, NC and CNC) it can be harmful to BDSM communities in general!
