Unpopular opinion: Side stories > Main Story lol

Dan_95x September 27, 2024 6:38 am

It look me a while to read this in its entirety because I was waiting for updates so here’s my many cents:

Pros - Props to the author, really did their research on anxiety, depression and the overall feeling of being trapped. I also enjoyed the main characters received a happy ending and they finally ended together. I am not a writer and there’s no way I could do what some of these writers do because my creativity doesn’t get this far - so way more power to them.

Cons - I think everything just started to go out the window for me with season 3. There were so many questions left unanswered and just felt like some things were rushed or avoided explanation whatsoever:

For one, we spend a HUGE chunk of season 2 exploring Min Ji Wook‘s depression, anxiety, etc., and him receiving very much needed treatment, and taking cooking lessons, (that was great!) but then when we get to season 3 he’s all of the sudden better and no longer taking treatment after maybe 1 or 2 sessions? All it took was for him to leave Joo Seung Eon’s and he became better in a spam of what? 1 month? He talks about being done with Joo Seung Eon (for the 100th time) but yet he doesn’t flip out when he shows up to his classes to keep an eye on him? I remember he would flip out just because Joo Seung Eon would keep tabs on him from a far!

Then I think we ignored/didn’t address several things - Min Ji Wook started working at a cafe and all of the sudden life is good? No more depression? No more anxiety? No more trauma? Just 10 chapters before he was talking about wanting to kill himself and was seeing profesional help!

He moves into a brand new apartment and because he misses his dog (that let’s remember he didn’t care for for about 9 years) he makes up with Joo Seung Eon and lets him come over and spend the night and end up hooking up, EVEN THOUGH he just wanted to be away from him 5 chapters before? And let’s not forget how batsh*t crazy Joo Seung Eon was about not letting Min Ji Wook be near a phone much less go outside in season 2, but in season 3 when he finds out Min Ji Wook moved to a new apartment without telling him he’s like “oh okay, cool I didn’t know”… really? Just like 10 chapters ago you had him locked up in his room with bodyguards at the door!

At this point I’m just venting but so many things just felt rushed in season 3. The sister makes an appearance in season 1 and a tiny bit in season 2 (phone call) and bam! That’s it. Nothing more. I get it she’s a minor character, but isn’t she the chairman of the entire company and didn’t she placed certain conditions on Joo Seung Eon? Now that she’s chairman she doesn’t care what he does? Are we also not gonna address how his brother shows up (for no reason whatsoever) for one chapter and that’s it? Are we not gonna address Joo Seung Eon‘a family drama when he was younger? They made it pretty important the first few chapters in the book.

I understand that the mc did “a lot of growing up through hardships” but I can’t stop thinking about how Joo Seung Eon gives the mc a new computer and iPad in season 3 and he’s all “omg thanksss I’ll take care them!” But literally a couple of chapters before he was throwing a fit because Joo Seung Eon was getting him food??

Long story short, the mc DOES NOT deserve Joo Seung Eon. At all. Period. Point. Blank. The only one that called him out on his bs (rightfully so) was Mr. Shim.

I should start by saying I loved this story. The author did an amazing job at keeping me engaged and wanting to know more with each chapter for sure! Great job!

Just a few things, and yes, this is me probably being selfish because I became too emotionally involved in the story… sorry but it was that good! (Spoiler alert - stop reading below).

I loved the redemption arc at the end, I just felt it was a bit rushed. I know I’m asking for a lot but maybe it should’ve been expanded a couple more chapters? I feel like we were left at “To be continued” since Jin **technically** came back into Chiwoo’s life. In my own opinion, it’s almost as if we didn’t really get to see the MC ACTUALLY end up together. Yes they ended up in each other’s life (which sure it grants the wish) BUT we didn’t really see them actually together as a couple at the end. Maybe we did and I just missed it.

This was a fun read but it was messy lol I wasn’t a fan the second couple got more screen time than the first but it is what it is.

Very funny to read for sure

Like I feel bad for Cain, I do, he deserves SO much better because he’s a genuine good guy

BUT

I still lowkey want Jooin to end up with Yahwi. Yeah he’s broken and messed up emotionally, but I mean he’s trying, that counts for something right?

hes just desperately holds on to the idea thag his childhood crush will solve all his emotional trauma and not even trying to understand how Jooin feels.

Honestly loved reading this… but it just felt a little rushed. Wished we had more chapters or more depth.
