Amon DOES try killing him, you're absolutely right and it's a pretty epic battle from what I read. Gwen has to go all out and he manages to land a near lethal blow on Amon but he's also nearly dead. Nain finally managed to make his way to those two and when he sees them, he freaks and dissipates. Amon and Gwen have to work together (begrudgingly) to locate Nain and bring him back to a more solid existence. If either of them die, Nain's extremely fragile mental state could be ruined and he could actually poof completely so Amon and Gwen compromise and put up with each other since they don't want that.

Can u tell me what happened in the room where nain was send in alone and wake up doesn't remember anything
