He was seeking pleasure + adventures. This usually happens when someone have a very stable relationship going on for quite sometime.
They get Bored , seek pleasure outside , do it a few times then return to their partner again.

I see incest in Muslim community. I live among them. Cousin marriage is allowed. Neighbour country is also Muslim dominated so you know.
Also there's incest in my community too . But it's in much diluted form. Means there's generations gap. But still people are related due to caste and all that.
