That seems to be a common theme within a lot of these historical novels, I mean, even Heaven Official Blessing has an age gap of like 12+ years between the MC and ML. The only consolation is that like in this book they meet/date well into adulthood.
From the novel of this Manhwa, the guy ML is disguised as fails to clear his name quick enough to the girl and they don’t meet again until like 10(?) years into the future when she’s in her twenties and chasing after him, who is avoiding her.
She’s still a brat even years into the future, but avoids legitimate consequences bc she’s become powerful and MC is a ‘saint’ (like literally, ML was going to have Seungho(?)/ her lover break her jaw to shut her up until MC said no) and she’s still rude in private even after that. I just never liked her character in general; glad we never rlly see her after this arc.

What do you mean 12 years for Hua Cheng and Xie Lian? It's only 7 years, they met when Huahua is 10 and Xie Lian is 17.
They met when she was 10, and a few chapters earlier, the MC says he’s the only one of his generation to have reached such a level by the age of 30, so he’s currently 30 or older..
And even, what on earth would a bloke who’s almost of age be looking for in a child… Between 10 and 15, it’s a completely different world; so between 10 and 17, without going into detail, if you’ve been through it, it’s practically another universe, and hardly the same generation at all.
Yeah fr not to mention that it kinda implied he has a son! Same age as her too. That guy is a creep.
Ah, really? I thought he was younger. Still, 7 years is iffy, and to me it’s a little weird if you remember that MC didn’t have a problem like at all knowing that the dude he’s attracted to was actually the poor little cursed child, or the teenage ghost he though had died; romantic interest mindset versus ‘little kid following me’ mindset is very different and he just seemed to have no issue blending em together despite the age gap. - Which is why I included it in my reply about large age gap couples
I'm not sure what are you talking about but Xie Lian just remembered Hua Cheng after 800 years. Is it still an issue if they got together after 800 years? He didn't even know that Hua Cheng is following him, he doesn't even know that the 10 and 15 year old Hua Cheng is the same after 800 years. I really love HuaLian and it hurts me to see that their story is being added with this kinds of stories. If you mentioned the very first story of mxtx I might've agreed with you.
Sorry, this is going to take a bit, because the problem lies not so much in the age difference as in the age itself. There’s a difference between a couple with an age gap of 5, 10 or even 20 years, where both are adults, and a situation where one is a minor, or even a child, whilst the other is an adult who is fully aware of the situation. To put it simply, the brain goes through several stages of development. At the age of 7, integration takes place this forms the foundation of personality. From the age of 10, personality begins to take shape through interactions with people outside the family. This is why trauma experienced before the age of seven can be very serious and lead to personality disorders such as DID, for example. It’s only at the age of 14 or 15 that we discover ourselves and start to form opinions and become aware of quite a few things, hence the teenage crisis. But in reality, you've barely dipped our toe into the outside world, because recent studies have shown that the brain doesn’t finish developing until the age of 25. So, before that, everything you thought was true, fundamentally, your very sense of self and your will was very, very easily manipulated. It’s not that, at 25, you’re no longer easily manipulated and that you’re completely mature and responsible; it depends on each person’s life experience and environment, but compared to a 10year-old girl who has only just come to terms with fitting in, you’re much more aware of things. That’s why most people, when they reach their thirties, realise that certain things don’t matter much to them and take a much firmer stance on others. That’s why, here, the MC who’s in his thirties, is very aware of his situation, and why he’d rather be attracted to someone his own age rather than to Cheolma, who, as the leader. and given the age gap, inevitably has the upper hand in their relationship. Even though, of course, it’s Cheolma he loves. They’re on *Love Is Blind*. It’s kind of necessary, for him to accept the ML.
The book series is good, and yes, the master/former student relationship is weird in ssvs, however it doesn’t change the fact that in itself, a 7 year age gap between u and your partner should not be the norm.. at least for me, and them being magical ghosts/gods or whatever doesn’t change that from being a fact to me. Because I mean, if it’s like that then why complain about the age gap between this MC and ML; Cheonma is magical right? So who cares!
As I said before, although they do meet 800 years into the future, it still doesn’t change their past relationships and perceptions of each other does it not? It’ll still be a bit weird to me if Im dating someone who I KNOW AND REMEMBER meeting me as a young child worshiping me, and then later on as my teenage servant (that he never forgot about btw) only to later find out as I’m dating you far into the future that you were those same kid figures I saw and I just went “omg I can’t believe it, you really grew up my romantic feelings towards you have only gotten stronger” and totally discard all the times I saw you as a kid. I mean, it’s fine since they are both adults here but you don’t think dating that kid from your past you’ve definitely seen more than once or twice and viewed as someone younger than you/ childlike isn’t a little strange?? (〜￣△￣)〜
