Because the king kind of look like his related to her,maybe an uncle judging by the eye colour.and also it is mentioned that the fml mom was a princess.i read a spoiler saying she was abused by her mom and she hated the beastkin and that played a huge role into fml dad hating on the beastkin.i myt be wrong though
