Just read all chapters (61), and am disappointed with the ending.
Basically emperor and that ex-slave/now-duke guy keep raping Knox for another 30 chapters, around 47-48 chapter Uke has enough and tries to escape all that shit by killing himself. He jumps from building and is pierced in the back by top of building sharp point (or by a spear of a statue standing below, don't really remember).
He survives that and those trashes now are remorseful, also they find out that Knox was innocent and when he wakes up they beg him to forgive (I read in korean so have no clue what they were saying exactly).
Long story short, since they both ask for forgiveness Knox takes backs his title as duke and then separately ask each: Emperor to gave shares in a diamond mine emperor's family owns, and from ex-slave guy (I refuse to use his name, fuck him) asks to bring him emperor's left arm.
Emperor doesn't fulfill the request neither does ex-slave guy, later Emperor drugs both of them and rapes sleeping Knox in front of chained ex-slave guy. That pushes ex-slave guy to rage and ends up killing emperor in later chapters, Knox then captures ex-slave guy for treason and locks him up, while declaring himself as new emperor.
In last chapter Knox visits the prison, they talk and on coronation day Knox decides to pardon ex-slave guy, in last panel ex-slave guy is kissing Knox hand so they end up together.
Shared all this because I don't want anyone else to be heartbroken by the shit ending and wasted time

okay just for peace of my mind, is this story actually doomed yaoi and main couple don't end up together, or are people in comments just exaggerating???

okay hear me out, really likely gray hair guy is actually unisex, that has womb and ovaries internally but on outside displays male genitals only, for that reason he has a feminine strike (as he mentions in childhood episodes) and possibly got raped in army, causing him to discharge early and once came back on island found he was pregnant. Also possible someone found out about that from minister's side (the black hair guy that was looking for him) and found it would be a good proof to convince other islanders to join his church as he has found a god-sent person/choosen one amongst them.
then obviously gray-hair guy gave birth twice, first got taken buy church people and on second time he managed to get away while pregnant and church still found him and gave him and his daughter (it could be because 2nd child was a girl, church didn't needed her as much as firsy boy, misogyny u know) guardian - that woman doctor.
I just hope there wont be an unexpected pregnancy plot, god please anything but that and rape

I read this story years ago when it was still coming out on MRM, at that time me being teenager and new to yaoi, this story seems so cool and art was scrumptious! But i remember always feeling nauseated at the end of each chapter because of jumbled mess everyone was being. Still, I kept pushing till the end because u know, it was just that kind of story, one you JUST have to finish?
Now, recently I have started rereading/revisiting old stories and going through comments on this one and reading the hate it is getting is so freeing and validating you have no idea!
I feel so right that, what i felt at 16-17 was correct. Story is only good for its art, had this manga had any bit less appealing art style I doubt it would even get picked up for publishing. The amount of secondhand embarrassments I got from characters/MC still hunts me and ending with no actual revenge/justice is honestly sickening...
If any newcomer is reading this comment, heed this, no need to waist time on this manga, if still - read story for it's art, do not take characters and the plotholes and endless humiliation rituals mc goes through to heart.
Skip this one, Not every story needs to ruin your day, there are way better stories waiting for you <3
