god i love woke yaoi. i think yaoi needs to get woker. being fully serious, it really is true that despite being gay, yaoi is pretty much never really queer in terms of themes. like this is lgbt level 1 stuff, but it still really stands out from most other yaoi that never really engages with this kind of thing. it's kind of an interesting phenomenon.
HARD AGREE it carries down to the fans often too--i've seen so many homophobic comments in BL comics (for some reason, worse in BL comics compared to GL. i have several theories lol). but i love comics that acknowledge the realities of being LGBT in our world. makes me feel seen, like the author cares about our issues instead of just being a fetish?

i've been trying to read some things outside of my comfort zone, but i feel like I've been stalling. please recommend your favorite shounen ai/yaoi, doesn't matter if it's complete or not, popular or underrated, anything you personally think is top tier works!
