It does hurt, but if you're just doing an ear lobe piercing it isn't bad. It's more like the pain of being pinched or getting a shot, and it doesn't last long. It varies depending on what you're getting pierced and your pain threshold. It was actually sooner than I ever would have thought for myself. It was with my now husband, and I was 19 and he was 20. We had been together for a year at that point. I was only going to have sex with someone I really loved, and I happened to find that person pretty young.
