I think CG genuinely wanted to become emperor. He convinced himself that it was the only way he'd ever be worth anything and that it was the only way he could protect Sam and keep him by his side. It wasn't just about getting revenge on the people who mistreated him. He wanted to become powerful enough to keep Sam, a married man, by his side forever, even if it meant going against Sam's own wishes and defying the law and morality.
Well, I feel that if the former Crown Prince becomes king, its gonna be way worse than it is right now. He is obviously gonna end CG first, then maybe even do worse things to MC than what CG did and then make the kingdom worse than it already is
