For the first time since his family’s murder, he slept peacefully after defeating that assailant, but the cruel comparisons ignited a fear of becoming like his father. Haunted by this possibility, he began tying his feet before sleep, binding himself as a precaution so that even if the “monster” within ever took control, he would be restrained and unable to harm others.
