I kept saying this when the season 2 started that Brian and Ian are the same person just with bit difference in personality since Ian was groomed (Idk if its an applicable term) by Lorkan. Its just one soul. People can't expect Ian to be exactly like Brian, like they were live in different eras and environment. Brian was surrounded by people who would support him while Ian is surrounded by people who criticised him. They're bound to be the same person, at the same time not.
Those people who drop season 2 or complaining about it just missed a lot of the plot. They better off read some fast pace romance and not a politically heavy focus and slow pace romance manhwa like this

This doesn’t erase the fact that your current story doesn’t follow your previous one.
And I’d like to add that the author chose to use THIS concept of what a soul is. If you wanted to read something more in accord to your idea of a soul you should’ve to write it yourself.
