I can’t… I cried so much when they revealed Ernest’s POV. Baby boy has absolutely no one on his side, he’s completely and utterly alone. It really shows what emotional abuse does to a person let alone A CHILD, I know it doesn’t justify what he did to beatrice, but dear god I cried for him. No one deserves to experience what he did. It also broke my heart when all was said and done, the dumbass king said “I regret not appointing you as heir” to redhead in front of ernest, that panel where ernest is far away from them. UGH. I really loved seeing his development throughout the story, but I’m really hoping that in future chapters he has some sort of redemption. That author cooked with this characterisation.
Same! I felt as though his characterization was handled very thoughtfully. The author gives us insight to the environment that fueled and encouraged the decisions he later makes as an adult, but never absolves him of his actions nor infantalizes him. He's held accountable for the shitty decisions he made and is forced to reflect. Thankfully, he's not so far gone that he feels no shame or guilt for what he's done. I really hope we get to see him truly apologize to both the FL and the other girl he manipulated and physically assaulted. The fact that he's not the ML really ties it all together because he truly does not deserve to continue a relationship with someone after deliberately breaking their trust and treating them the way he did. We can recognize that his abuse played a part in his terrible actions without his victims being forced to continue an amicable or intimate relationship with him because he's still responsible for the harm he caused.
Evaldina’s story reminded me of “This witch of mine” Men will never stop oppressing, manipulating, torturing, dehumanising women. The mages flourished, they lived in harmony and of course their innocence was taken advantage of by MEN. Evaldina put that man to the highest position where he gained everything anyone could ever want, she did it all for him, and what did he do? Like how all men are he manipulated her into doing all that and when his masculinity was threatened, he put all the blame on her, forcing all the “witches” into oppression and extinction. He loved her? Toxic ass bitch, he loved how SHE loved him. I cannot imagine how it must feel to experience that level of betrayal, the guilt of her kind’s extinction, and the fact that the time has already passed and her perpetrator is long gone. I can’t say I support what she’s doing but what happened to her is beyond traumatic. It absolutely soul crushing and mind altering no wonder she’s breaking down. I feel so so sorry for her, but she needs to be stopped. I really hope princess gives her the closure she needs.

Yes, you took the words right out of my mouth. She was just a girl in love with the wrong person, and what she went through is so REAL. It says so much about the writing in this story that I could despise her at one point, but want to hug her in another. She didn’t deserve that. And honestly, knowing that she fell asleep and woke up to this man having an abundant, happy, and HEALTHY life before he passed makes me sick to my stomach because this happens in real life too! “They’ll get their karma.” Not in this life, it seems, meanwhile so many others is already ruined!
She needs to be stopped, but more than anything I’d like for her to be healed. There has to be something. And I won’t be happy until the whole empire knows what a sack of human filth the MC’s ancestor truly was. Completely despicable.
