It's not that he doesn't recognize her voice, he actually does. In the later chapters we find out that he was scammed multiple times by people claiming to be Paula and having the same voice as hers. So he doesn't trust anyone anymore, that's why he was so reluctant to believe that "Anne" was Paula. Also by the storytime about the dragon he figured it out, but reasoned that she wanted a secret for whatever reason!

Its like when the characters have some sort of animation, ig it makes the atmosphere of reading the story more immersive. However that means that it cant be uploaded on here or any illegal websites as im not sure if it supports interactive stuff (as far as ik , ive seen gifs tho) also apparently i saw on Tiktok but ppl r speculating they r using ai for the animationsn they changed artist so the artstyle is a little diff but similar to the old.
