I think one of the biggest problems people have is that the author will try to pair up the victim with the abuser. I see too many authors that tell these redemption stories thinking they need the character who is seeking forgiveness to end up with the one they hurt. I find this take interesting because when female creators choose to only create hetero stories they get begged to create or include BL. Sometimes the same happens with straight men.
