It's the second time when our mr GoldenAlpha wore stripes. Does he do it for Yi Hyeon? (╹◡╹)ノ
Btw Yi Hyeon's stripes aren't just C.R. Jade's thing. The novel, even with messy translation, gives more insight to his personality/character.
Let me share some parts. All quotations aren't spoilers at this point. The last one ab mechanical tears is from the night Yi Hyeon spent in Weikun's house, after his panic attack (not actually ab his personality, but I found it an interesting concept):
There wasn't any special reason or stubbornness behind only wearing striped T-shirts. I didn't have an eye for choosing stylish clothes, nor was I particularly interested in my attire in general.
The initial thought was that stripes wouldn't be too dull but also wouldn't stand out too much. Because of that, my closet had gradually filled up with nothing but striped tops. In truth, I didn't own that many clothes to claim I only wore striped T-shirts. That was mainly because I had only packed two or three thin long-sleeved shirts when I left my grandfather's house, so I actually needed a few short-sleeved ones as the weather grew increasingly warmer.
-----------
Until now, I had tried to protect myself by "choosing nothing." I believed that by continuously refusing to move on to whatever came next, I could remain in the present and maintain myself.
But doing nothing wasn't a way to maintain the status quo.
Bricks, plastic cups, and erasers can maintain their current state if left untouched. Generally speaking, they can.
But living things could not. If you didn't water them, if you didn't provide nutrients, if you didn't open a window for ventilation... they would wither. Their minds, their emotions, even their unique personalities and talents.
Morae, Hanyi hyung, Yuni noona, Juhan-hyung, the Teacher, and the CEO. Even Inwoo hyung. They were all shining people. People filling their lives with their own conviction and passion.
Surrounded by their abundant light, I myself was nothing more than dried-up mud, lacking even the nutrients to sprout a single blade of grass.
That was the result of me 'choosing nothing.'
---------
I had to get myself together. For the sake of the people who looked back at me even when facing the paths they desired, because they couldn't leave me alone. I had to pull myself together and move my own two feet.
I now clearly understood that choosing nothing would not preserve my current situation.
--------
"They were not the tears of emotional release that surge up and burst forth from the foundations of existence shaking and opening a rift. They were merely a physical reaction, tears that kept flowing without cooling anything down or resolving anything."
C.R Jade has made me read an omegaverse novel (not my genre) when the translations are rather lacking... MTL mostly with mixed pronouns, strange name transliteration and honorifics when wrote in English are hella weird.
And I'm just wondering HOW COME she didn't draw YiHeyon's best fap in life??(⊙_⊙)
So I'm the only one who feels sorry for YiHyeon now? They're cornering him to make a deal out of his paintings. That woman (sorry not remember her name) at least seems to be genuine and teacher-like -> you've real talent, so you might consider coming back to painting. At the same time not having a clue WHY he'd stopped.
But Weikun? He was present while just seeing his own paintings triggered a panic attack. And after a few days he brings up - start painting for me? Dude....
And I've heard it's a really well written story.
I wonder if anyone can help me.
Remember chapter 23? When Nok agreed to the deal. There's a dialogue ab Nok's pants. And I'd found it a little strange/off. Jaeshin suggesting to have sex with the pants on? Nok super-embarrassed by it? And I thought of an alternative translation after seeing the original, bc "입" is "mouth". The lines go:
Jaeshin: 아니면 입은 채로 할까?
Nok: 입고서 하다니. 그게 가능할리 없잖...
Most dictionaries don't back up my theory, but coulnd't it mean:
Jaeshin: Or do you want to do it with your mouth?
Nok: W- with mouth? That's impossible...
And a second later Jaeshin orders him to open up his mouth for a kiss.
The official trans:
J: Or shall we do it with them on? [the pants]
N: What are you talking about? That's nonsense-
I wanted to drop this idea, but then baidu translator started to give out "my" outcome(◔‿◔) I wish I know more Korean than a few words XD
But let me rant for a sec first XD
C.R Jade, master, why oh why have you decided to draw omegaverse??? ( ̄△ ̄) /
I'm suffering bc I'm a die hard fan of the artist but I keep a wide berth from this genre.
So what now? Ofc I'll read it even if my brain bleeds...
At first maybe bc it's modern-day setting I didn't have much to admire - in terms of art. The style is notably different from previous works of C.R Jade. Yihyeon has very delicate features, girly even - don't stone me, I'm aware it's regular case in yaoi XD and I don't hone every single time ab it. Maybe his shy behaviour increases my impression and yes he has some beautiful panels too. However there're no (for now) landscapes/background, intricate garments and details in their facial expressions (maybe it'll come) that I admired so much in The Ghost's Nocturne.
As for Liu (who's prob Chinese?) I just keep getting Jaeshin flashes XD I didn't have so many in Lust. I'm a little dissapointed in that bulky shoulders too - his upper clothes look sometimes as if they're going to snag.
Now the pros. Despite all that I loove the moment from the past when Yihyeon talked to his friends. Those beautiful colours of the setting sun make me feel its warm... - first time I felt it's really C.R Jade work ;) The second was mini-photoshoot Liu had given him. Although the discussion after that was rather cringy.
Back to the 11th ep. I'm delusional and hope it's a dream. I mean, the chapter was a little strange. Liu caring at every step became fake.
And then the end - if it's not a dream and he'll take advantage of Yihyeon it'll be nail to his character's coffin. Actually it might mean he's planned everything from the beginning, which is repulsive.
Firstly I have to mark I'm not into short stories in general ;)
Secondly Lily's character is a shit, and a lead shouldn't be.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the whole thing is "just shit". The story isn't esp revelatory but the ending is reasonable consequence of events - which is good. Core point's are fine too. Anna's character as well as the duchess are coherent and well written.
So WHY Lily is a stupid bitch who only wants to fuck and keeps calling it love? Ofc she is young so she could be manipulated by the duchess. However no way it would happened in one night! A few minutes after being shocked and felt abandoned she's happily fucked by Blake, elated with LOVE she has. What a bullshit.
-> that can be "the short story" fault. No time to show how Blake slowly drives Anna away and plays Lily like a fiddle.
Even if we turn a blind eye to that, saying there wasn't time to show it, and the outcome is what matters, Lily's back with her stupidity. Despite being close to Anna for years, she wants to fuck her too, now! What is it? "A proof of love"? Ugh...
And those weak points don't correspond with quite pretty, expressive and detailed art style. I only wish the eyes weren't blurred. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

You remember there'll be no update this Monday, right? RIGHT?¯(◉‿◉)/¯
