no regret arc bc ilay riegrow regrets NOTHING this black flag doesnt even have a sad backstory to justify it, he's a psychopath who's head over heels in love and STAYS that way and he and taeui have to grapple with the logistics of it. honestly that's what makes this series so unique and interesting. the novel series extends way into the future where they've already been partners for multiple years and ilay for a while believes since he essentially forced tay to be with him then tay isn't with him because he wants to, it's bittersweet yet he accepts it. only for tay to correct him and express he loves ilay so so much and it's aaggghhh
