I know the questionable consent should bug me more but the author made MC so naive and submissive it feels more like child abuse whats happening here. After all, MC is never really thinking about being sexually attracted to ML, rather he idolizes him and frames everything in the context of their relationship as teammates.
You cant get around the ickyness of rape by infantalising a character so much that they become oblivious of the abuse. That only makes the victim read like child or mentally disabled person.
There's a very short but poignant list of reasons why these two should not end up together. But since they're going to be, the question that bugs me is 'Why did this other guy get to name him?'
Its infinitely harder to romanticize a relationship this dysfunctional, when the healthy alternative is given such an important and identity-shaping milestones. If you play up the friendship and trust with the second ml, it truly makes it seem like MC is just choosing dick.
I guess it’s bc of how sacred and sentimental it is for MC to be given a name that only the good character was given the opportunity to do it to keep the act “pure and untainted” rather than the main ML bc the feeling of getting a name from him would feel more like a leash. At least with 2nd ML he did it with good and genuine heart without exchange as it should be.
FL: Lets cut some of these outrageous household expenses. We dont need to act like we're made of money.
Also FL: I'll need a bunch of red roses, I am planning a romantic night of lovemaking and I am sure the maids won't mind cleaning up after I made a completely optional mess.
The problem with these stories is always that the author wants the MC to be humble but also for them to choose to dress like a million bucks and to freely take advantage of servants.
Lol what? If she is doing her job as the future duchess at cutting out unnecessary expenses why does that mean she is not allowed to haviea night purely for her and her partner? And come on it's a few roses scattered and a nice outfit, the maids won't have a huge mess and it's literally their job that gets paid very well to do if I got the vibe right with the story. Her being the FL that is humble and has selfish desires to have a romantic night with her partner sounds like just a normal person and I don't see the problem

I ... Have to give it to this story. Did not expect that he just runs into a rando that happens to be actually this "mate".
What's happening to my tropes?
