There are 4 people I dislike from the og story . I'll go from least to most.
1: Ms yoon - she was kinda annoying initially but eventually I came to like her.
2: Heeseong - he was too childish for me. Always screaming and insulting hojin. He looked down on yooseung's love just because he was afraid he has to go through everything. But at the end, he was ready to do the very thing he despised the most.
3: Yooseung - he was too abusive in the beginning. Always beating hojin. But I liked how he changed himself.
4: Yooseung's mother - I didn't like her AT ALL. Especially the moment when she tipped ahn to go to yooseung and provoke him. And when yooseung was beating ahn, she was smiling. I hate her especially in that moment. I know she is a complex one, nevertheless I hate her.
5: the grandfather - I don't need to explain why I hate that bastard. I think he got off too easy.
If any of the above characters are your favourite, no offense. But it is my personal take from the manhwa.
His crash out is valid. And he canonically despise the bottom. I would too if the person I trusted betrayed me and I had to live and watch people die but death is not possible for me even if I want it so bad. Though, I don't think bottom is at fault either. Maybe he was forced.
Ok, so the side stories took place before they met in college. As in ch 1. Then how did kihoon remember his past life? I mean there was past life kihoon in that gangbang.
Kihoon started having dreams of his past lives back in middle school when they first met. It’s kinda a main plot point of season 2 and why he was so scared to admit he liked yeon. It’s the whole reason he got his first girlfriend. I swear do you guys even read these stories or just goon to the smut?!

The overall story was good. But that random ass gangrape? It was so unnecessary. The author ignored it like it didn't even exist. So why draw that in the first place?? These bl authors are obsessed with rape. At first, I thought the rape may have great relevance later in the story but seriously?? None. And the bottom was so NONCHALANT about it. His attitude about it was like "oh,well". Like it's a regular thing for him. And those rapists were seriously leg go of? It was better off as short manhwa. To think I was so excited when new chapters were uploaded. Disgusting.
I can see where you're coming from because it could've been implied rather than completely shown or at least parts of it could've been omitted, but I believe the author's intention wasn't to make the character "grow", the point with this specific arc was to show how cold-blooded Brett is.
Even through an extreme stress situation, he is focused on being rational rather than his own feelings regarding what is happening to him. In the same way that he lacks the ability to empathise with others, he doesn't care about himself THAT much (at least physically) which is why he was also in several occasions putting himself at risk.
My interpretation is that this "proves" that Hayden is so important to him that it caused him to not only FEEL things positive and negative (regret, sadness, urge to protect, worry etc), it made him so irrational that he was actually chasing something when most things were given to him or he'd just take them because he felt entitled to.
Brett isn't the type of person to let emotions or people linger if they lose their purpose which is also why he wasn't trying to get revenge on the rapists. One of the few times he was looking for the score to be set even was when Hayden was involved and wronged.
That scene in specific was to show us this absurd contrast and contradiction in Brett's personality and attitudes. It may not have been the best choice, but I don't think it was just for an obsession with rape in this case.
I understand your explanation and thank you, really, for trying to make me understand. I also admit the obsession with rape might have been an over exaggeration on my part. But the author could have shown the same thing in a different manner. I understand brett is a complex character. But there are other ways to show the depth of the complexity of a character. Later in the story it was treated as a minor thing. I am not saying rape should be brought up every chapter but it could have been dealt better. It could have been anything but rape. That's all what I am trying to convey. I hope you understand what I am trying to say.
Totally see your point of view and I understand that sometimes authors do it for the shock value (and I also dislike it), but in this case specifically I tend to see it with other eyes because if you ask me "what's the worst thing that can happen to someone?" and I think it's rape, it's the extreme of the extremes and Brett still doesn't act human in this, so it makes sense in my head(?) idk
But you're 100% entitled to disliking this narrative choice and disagreeing with it from a personal pov.
