This story had so much potential, as it tells a story about how much a reliable tale from the past can change the future, making the premise itself feel kinda refreshing. But it's so badly executed, the writer has a good sense for humor and the characters are lovable, but the writing can't meet their own goals with consistency.
There are so much Diabolus Ex-Machina making bridges between the narrative, some characters turn dumb, others simply act out of their own making, in between leisurely telling us about the lead couple romance, critical shit happens. Ex.: Loretta managing to go every day to the fucking mage tower without anyone realizing, because a coachman (risking his own life to defy pretty plausible direct orders)?? Agreed and she, THE DAUGHTER OF THE DUKE I DARE SAY, ELEVEN YEARS OLD I DARE AGAIN, is allowed outside without a knight or a single servant. This whole arc is stupid as Claude is supposed to be "a genius" but can't see an inch before his face on the premise "oh me so in love". Loretta asking for magic infusion is yet another device, makes no sense, the explanation isn't good enough. And now the entire story will resolve to it's happy ending usando a DEUS EX-MACHINA in form of a "report of the past", as the writer fucked up so much making tragedies, they wouldn't be able to proceed without making a miracle.

When the world build, writing and characters are good like that, this amount of romance feels like a filler. The ML is hardly likeable and he's also pretty annoying: interrupting her mission because he's jealous of a horse? Wtf, he finds the woman drinking, accepts her drunk advances even tho he's totally sober, and then tells her she needs to take responsibility, as if she isn't the one who was taken advantage of. I'll not even start with the general, popping up all the time, too jealous, too clingy. All his family was murdered, his legacy robbed, he was beaten an treated like shit, but none of this matters because he became infatuated to a woman at the age of fifteen. If the emperor had a little bit more of dignity we'd be far off in the story. Carlos suddenly realizing he's attracted to Rue is stupid convenient.

Because she know this author and we knew he'd be a big piece of trash before ever starting this redemption arc, but this same person also have one of the best art yaoi ever seen. But honestly, I'm having trouble keeping up with THAT LEVEL of miscommunication, god!!! Fucking god!!! Reading this makes me feel like I'm stuck in an eternal rollercoaster where I seldom experience the rush of the fall but I'm always slowly climbing to the edge.
