I really like how honest he is with him self about his feeling and the way he's been treated with his so call friend. He's learning that if you show kindness that kindness get returned with cake & a friend!
Chase is not my favorite. I feel the was too clingy to Joel without really knowing him. But poor baby that feeling of not being liked sucks. Reading it I was crying. Joel just need to grow up and be a parent.

I think so too. I think both flashbacks are just different experiences with the same truth, that they had bad parents. And I think that the first time they worked together was to rid themselves of those parents but now they're in this awkward codependent situation while simultaneously still hating each other.
