He met Garam's stepdad in a non-serious meeting because his mom was in the hospital, but maybe in a future chapter, it will reveal that he met Garam's mom too. She did say "happy birthday son" to Garam, and he was surprised by it. Also, mentioning that no one cared about his birthdays enough to throw him an actual party further showcasing his lack of connection with his mom. Jaehyuk also scoffed when Sunhong asked if it was a formal meeting, so it might just be him gloating that he's met Garam's stepdad or he met his mom in a non-formal setting that hasn't been shown in a chapter yet. Anyways, I picked apart the Korean multiple times, and "our families" is very prevalent in the Korean sentence, no matter how it's broken down, and "our" means both.
