over the years of reading yaoi i have come to the conclusion that a lot of these authors genuinely don't know how to put a plot together or write a meaningful story or relationship. a lot of you bitches just like to draw and that's it

    like once in awhile you’ll stumble across a beautiful story. like beautiful art, a well thought out plot, if there’s smut then it’s fitting and comes naturally. some of the best yaois with great plots have crappy art.

    it’s gotten worse recently, there used to be a surge of a pure first live genre and first timers and shit like that that made people want to put more effort into a story to hook people, not always but i used to see a lot of more niche works that would blow me away

    now everything is rape and one night stands, orgies and threesomes and contracts and i’m just fucking tired

    there need to be more writer/artist teams (minus some of the existing ones). so many stories are giving "great gowns, beautiful gowns" because they're all-in on visuals. and sometimes, they have a semblance of plot/something intriguing going on with the story, but the emphasis on sex scenes derails the plot and character/relationship development, often in ways that it doesn't *have* to (*cough cough" you are my world).
    reread all about lust/there are no bad dogs in the world just yesterday and had to sigh about what's trending when I was done. I wouldn't mind the mindless stuff if there were enough substantial stories to keep my attention away from them.
