Is it just me totally losing motivation to keep up with GMMTV lately? Feels like they’re always going for quantity over quality these days. I’ve been way more into other company now, plus CBL and JBL

can we finally talk about how the bl anime scene is straight flopping right now??

i used to always get excited about new bl updates like my whole life depended on it but now my hype is fully dead and buried six feet under. deadass the second i spot a new announcement nowadays i just scroll straight past and didn't read a single word in the caption coz i already know deep down its only gonna let me down all over again.

BL anime nowadays just aint good at all. compared to what we got years ago. its not even close to being on the same level. back then we had so many actual gems, u could just feel real care and better management. all we ever get now is crumbs. budgets so low its actually embarrassing, animation quality so bad u wonder if they finished it in a rush overnight. its literally 2026… apparently the more progressive year and technology and everythin else moved forward so why is bl anime goin backwards instead of improving. Older bl was never perfect either but lets not lie to ourselves and pretend whatever we have now is somehow better. cos it aint. and dont even start bring up gambare nakamura its cute and all sure but im so sick of probably a most likely one sided sad endgame. also im so done with that fandom and their obsession with “realistic sad gay stories” we already have a million of those. if straight couples get to be happy, fluffy and get their perfect endings why cant we have that too just leave us alone already. and summer hikaru died is great story but both the fandom and official pages said it its horror. its literally just horror that happens to have gay characters in it. that aint bl. i want actual bl anime.

the only good thing coming outta the japanese bl industry these days is the live action. Oh my goodness the amount of projects already out or coming just in 2026 alone is actually insane. for once it feels like were actually gettin fed properly. announcements keep droppin one after another, casting is almost always on point, and u can just tell theyre puttin real heart into making it. is it perfect tho hell no. lets not cap here. episodes still only run around twenty minutes per episode meanwhile ur average straight mainstream jdrama gets a whole 40 minutes to a full hour every single ep i absolutely love School Trip s but i really wish the episodes were longer so they didnt have to cut out so many good parts from the novel

its so obvious at this point that the japanese bl industry basically packed up everythin good and moved it all the good writing, all the care, focus and attention went to making multiple live action. bl anime is now literally just an afterthought. JBL deserves every single bit of love and support it get and lowkey i actually prefer that medium way more anyway because i love seeing actors and real human. But i just really really wish japan would open their eyes and give bl anime that exact same level of effort and care again. It feels like live action is way more popular these days so theyre making way more of those instead of bl animes.
