Upon reading the story again for the third time, it seems it was cleared up in the scene where baek youngchan gifts Seo a necktie (=・ω・=)

no, he wasnt. its made very clear to the audience in the chapter where it occurs that it was a misunderstanding. the staff walked out of a staff area the same time youngchan came out of the bathroom, which led hyunsoo to believe that happened, but it didn’t. hyunsoo also directly asks youngchan about it later on in the story where the misunderstanding is cleared up. reading comprehension u guys come on

he did have partners before, but Seo is his first male partner
It gets cleared up in chapter 60 guys. Reread that one and you'll see a scene nearing the end of the chapter. It's a very little bit, but it clears up the misunderstanding.
