There is quite a bit of angst in this bc iwol does suffer a lot but despite that there are good and fun scenes as well, and a whole bunch of side stories to heal the reader's, I really think you should give the novel/manhwa a try!

I don't remember if Hoyoon has a big angst arc before this. However, one year after the Shining Star survival show that they finished a few chapters back, Hoyoon reveals something through a reporter that he terribly regrets revealing. This is something that would eventually get found out regardless by netizens or reporters as the Dawn gets more famous.

So, since the Dawn are competing in Shining Star Season 2 in less than one year. There was a scandal about Seonghyeon being a bully. And while clearing up Seonghyeon's name, I think Hoyoon willingly decided to be evil edited while portraying his teammate as an angel (he really does have a heart of gold).
In the finals, the system says that his parents and his car accident will be revealed if The Dawn loses so Hoyoon decides to tell his reporter acquaintance to release an article since the public will eventually find out anyway if someone else does a background check on him. He wanted to control how his traumatic past was revealed on his terms.
I believe he was trying to protect his brother's identity as well since even when he was a "villain" PD, he told Hojin not to say they are brothers because the public does throw eggs at Hoyoon for evil editing (he just wanted to earn money for Hojin faster).
Anyway, as the truth comes out, Hoyoon is in a daze during practice for a few days and eventually performs the finale stage while panicking and apologizing to his family.
