Hokazono's art is showcased in his masterful use of black spaces and his interesting panelling. It helped him in showing the emotional gravity of a scene and the multitude of grief not shown in in Rok's face. He also does this for Chihiro in Kagurabachi.
Not to mention, his dynamic action scenes are done without clutter.
I like that his narrative style is not rushed. His exposition is enough that would make you care about the Rok's motivation that leave you wanting more.
All in all this is the perfect one-shot that showcases what Hokazono's is capable of and what he prioritizes in his writing.
I thought for sure that he is truly a bird in a cage letting the world pass him by but NOOOOO. He is fighting in his on way! Along with going to therapy and getting a part-time job-- he is also gathering evidence and looking for ways to get his own justice in the way he can. The slow reveal from him being a damsel in distress character to someone who really wants his own life to change for the better and taking matters that he can in his own hands is so good. I'm very much impressed.
I can't wait to see how the creator reveals the rest of the story.
It was a really nice surprise!
