Just finished the novel and yall are in for a ride omg there's a LOT of angst in the future
She does but their relationship is pretty rocky, Ed is super jealous and insecure initially, they stop talking for years after Lili moves back to her home country (she moves back cuz the demon is targeting her and its safer for her to live in trovancia), ed and lili promised to keep in contact, but Ed never replied to a single letter she sent (he tries to forget about her cuz he thinks she will soon forget about him too), they both felt betrayed by each other, Lili moves on from her childhood stuff and stops sending him letters, she goes back to the empire when she's 16 and that's when they reconcile and start dating, but she has to go back to trovancia shortly after because another conflict with the demon, Ed is still super insecure about their relationship and thinks they will break up if she goes back, Lili never gives him any reassurance and says if they break up its because it was never meant to be lmao, after that ed says smt like "i wish you liked me as much as i like you, so you would know how i feel" Lili doesn't even disagree with the fact that he likes her way more than she likes him,, but dw they work it out eventually :)
There's so many things that happen, Lili finds out about her past life and feels betrayed that Marius and Francois still approached her family even after all they did (she knows they remember it too) after that her relationship with Marius was never the same, Lili's brother comes back and takes her back to trovancia shortly after, Alice divorces Marius and goes back to trovancia as well some time later, she hides the fact that she's pregnant and makes him lose the first 5 years or so of their son's life (even though he truly loved her and really wanted to have a kid with her), she was actually planning to wait until the kid was 16 to tell him about his dad, but Marius accidentally finds out earlier, after that, Marius still has to wait almost two decades to be with her, because she doesn't want to give up her job to be the empress, Marius loves her so much he agrees to wait until her retirement to be officially together
Having mixed feelings about this tbh, this is just my personal opinion, started out great but it feels like we lost the plot somewhere after she ran away from astair, who even is the target audience for this? Not for people interested in romance since it barely gets developed and feels really rushed, even though the ML is lowkey the most likeable and interesting character in this, and it's also not for people interested in family stories since that also barely got developed,, I feel like this had great potential for enemies to lovers after she stabbed Astairs eye but then he comes back after the timeskip and she almost immediately falls in love with him and just tries to deny it until he wins her over, he's also so head over heels that it doesn't take much for him to "forgive" her (pretty sure he was never even mad) so ig no enemies to lover for me,, I'm also sad that the ML is genuinely interesting and had great potential, but it feels like he's wasted in this story
I decided to check out the novel cuz I was kinda worried they might do an open ending with only implied romance but guys, they will eventually get married and confess their love to each other, and hazel becomes the empress , if anyone wants to check it out here's the link

Pretty good read, a bit slow towards the end, but I enjoyed it anyways
