Both of them are top-tier Novel/Donghua/Manhua by Mxtx. If you're wondering whether to read or watch, go for the latter first. Delicious plot, amazing charas, xianxia cultivation. Idk about HOB, but MDZS has a drama version available on K8ssaßian (replace with normal alphabets)and separate chibi version animation of everyday life as side stories is also present.
