I think there are a lot of writing issue about their characters, and background motivation. On surface, it has tsundere emperor and smart protective uke which is very rare but in reality, emperor is cruel and his tsundere side looks very out of character compared to earlier chapters and it doesnt makes sense for godless geniues like mc to be this obsessive of this guy just because unknown fate. Very toxic dynamic and personally find it very unearned and unrealatable.
Maybe its me but i kinda dislike how 'otakus' overreact and say 'we cant talk in public'. As if people in public would give a sht. It should be fine as long as its not cencory-sexual stuff. (I bought bl novel and in copyshop, male workers even cloents saw the intimate two boys pictures. It would be hard to tell what its about from outsider perspective so duh, they didnt care. If you openly say 'BL BL', yeah some would but if you just use names, characters like how they would know if its bl or what its about. If they know the names or show, you can direct what they said to them. I mean even if they knew, what are they gonna do? Publicly scream 'A BL FAN AAAAAAAA' lol. I mean, talking about sexual stuff is in general should be private but if you are talking about subject of some drama or movie, or characters oure love, who would know? Since you know or like something that might get you rejected by many people around you, you feel the need to 'hide' what u like and, thus, would not want to utter even a word of it in public due to "guilt". Did you read what i wrote? If you dont focus on characters sexuality and sexual scenes, noone would notice which character or series you were talking about. Talk about love in general without including gender, then you are safe. Also thats your choice to keep people who might reject you for your hobby or not. And we are talking about public situation. They simply think all humans are selfish and cruel except Thier teacher, they even hate the sun god for not saving Jio, they're destroying the dimensions out of rage for humans and as revenge against the sun god too (i don't think they ever felt faith for the sun god, they had faith in Jio himself).
And I don't think they know, or rather, believe that good humans exists, they never spent time with other humans exept jio, the little boy only had to pretend to ba a human this time because they found some difficulty in attacking this dimensions right after finding it, so for them, only jio is good, because they only experienced his kindness, and honestly he sets the bar very high to be as kind as him, even at the moment where humans fed him to his student, he didn't showany hate towards them or towards the boy while he was getting eaten alive. Who can match that?! If it was me I'll feel so much hate for other humans and be scared of mermaids because of the trauma

No i understand the irony of it, like they hate humans who did experiments on the younger bother and jio, but the sister go and run experiments on humans too, the younger bother met the little priest boy, the one that said jio is warm, he is sweet and kind but still the mermaid hate him, so at this point they're just blinded by revenge and don't know how to grief properly
They never really liked humans, they loved jio who just happened to be a human, and they never seemed to really have faith on the sun god, so after losing the very first thing they really loved then lost it because of the humans they went crazy
They cruel and selfish too, and they never really liked humans so it make sense they turned like that
