Okay, let’s take a step back and make this right. I apologize for making you feel that way. I read my comment again, and I can see how comparing their reaction to that word came across badly. That wasn’t the right way for me to express my point. But honestly, why can’t people simply say they hate it and leave it at that? You don’t have to like something, and you’re absolutely entitled to your own opinion. What bothers me is when people use unnecessary expletives or leave hateful comments without considering how those words might make others feel. Disliking something is completely fine, but I don’t think that gives anyone a reason to be unnecessarily aggressive or disrespectful about it.

People can criticize a book without using expletives or making the discussion unnecessarily hostile. And yes, the book isn’t about me—but neither is someone else’s opinion about the book a free pass to be disrespectful toward the people who enjoy it. We can disagree about a book without attacking each other’s tastes. That’s really all I’m saying.

I completely understand your point about the expletives and agree it definitely could’ve been described in a manner that was an actual constructive critique of the book.
My only issue is people have had criticisms similar to this persons critique: the repetitive sex scenes, overlong dialogue, and cliche/unnecessary plot lines and they are all met with backlash.
