there was potential but i can’t stand characters who act out of character and do outrageous things (in their pre-established standard) just to move along the plot… like the story sets up the teacher to be super strict and a hard ass and makes him seem soooo concerned over an innocuous misconstrued image of him with a student, yet he seems mostly unfazed and folds so quick when the main character asks him to do something objectively outrageous. i’d accept it more if the teacher already had an interest in the student, but idt the story is going that way. it kinda makes you wonder if plot lines like this come from a lack of creativity - like, maybe the author couldn’t think of another avenue that would lead to the same consequence, so they sacrifice character consistency to move the plot along. i might keep reading but the start of their relationship hinging on something so preposterous makes me doubtful this will develop in an interesting way. comparatively, i feel like something like form of sympathy introduces the student teacher relationship in a much more convincing way; you sort of understand the circumstances that lead the two people in the relationship to forgo the social/cultural/whatever taboo. anyways, maybe i’m just over analyzing something not meant to be taken seriously ~~
