Gonna get mad at the AUTHOR for their fictional characters actions it’s a STORY about people in gangs who kill steal and do awful things. If you read this expecting sunshine and rainbows this isn’t the story for you. I however, have a backbone and can stomach this. The plot seems interesting

Sure I get that and I would totally agree if we were talking about Acid Town, Canis, Dousei Yankee Akamatsu Seven or Saezuru Tori wa Habatakanai. But when it comes to this particular author, the rape is absolutely NOT for the sake of having a realistic deep story. It’s more like a sexual fantasy and probably for shock value, but there’s really no depth to it. If you don’t know those titles, then i invite you to read them and then you’ll see the HUGE difference between authors that treat the hard reality of gangs with the depth of it VS an author that use a the gang narrative as an excuse to draw their own sexual fantasies.
I’d understand that take but this story isn’t about action it’s about the LOVE story of two very damaged and scarred individuals in that lifestyle. This is how they perceive love and the development will take time. It’s not the authors sexual fantasies many do this and I doubt they’re all creeps. If that’s the case, We aren’t much better reading illustrated porn of fictional twinks. It’s all about who can tolerate what, and if those don’t understand the vision of the book, instead of deeming people weird or getting hate because they don’t get it, they should just not read the book anymore.
Just because a lot of people do this doesn’t mean it’s right. Have you ever heard of rape culture? The problem is not the rape in itself. It’s how it’s portrayed. Using rape as a tool for a supposedly “love story” is fucked. I refuse to believe there can be a « love » story if the roots of the relationship is based on rape. Dependency and Stockholm syndrome sure, but not love. And I thought it was supposed to be a “realistic story about gang” ? But now it’s a love story ? If it’s a LOVE story, then there’s no way this story is being realistic. So why adding rape then ? They could beat the ahit out of each other, there’s no need for them to rape each other. Also, the author already showed us enough of the “realistic truth of gangsters” with all the rape scenes in Pearl Boy (and at least it wasn’t between the 2 lovers). You know you can appreciate this story and admit the rape is unnecessary and uncalled for right ? If you can differentiate fiction and reality then you can also admit that there is no depth to this story, it’s not about being realistic, it’s just porn with a lil bit of story to put a context for the rape fantasies. And guess what ? You’re allowed to like it ! And other people are also allowed to hate it ! It’s really just that simple.
That’s what I’ve been saying from the beginning. If you can’t stomach it, if you don’t like it, don’t read it. Why you’re still blabbing I have no idea.
I really hope that mingwa does what pearl boy author did and continue with little side story episodes I would love to see them as a couple
