incredibly ridiculously common self-harm method/risky sexual behavior amongst gay youth. i can’t count on one hand the amount of young guys i know who have some background like this, especially in a small town: either for sexual fulfillment (i don’t want everyone to know I’m gay, it’s too risky to have a crush on another boy at school, no one can give me what I need, I might as well make a Grindr account, I’m practically an adult anyway, I want to make sure I’m really gay, etc) or because you feel like you don’t really care what happens to you, want to feel useful, have some past history of sexual trauma, some other combination….
