People who are picking sides on who's winning the "worst at communication" award between these two are missing the point that it's a joint reward, tbh. Torikai a fuckin' wall who struggles to open up cuz of past trauma, and has to be pried open. But like...for all he's doing, Yajima hasn't even said a direct "I love you" yet. Of course Torikai's gonna struggle to accept it. Anyways, I'm locking them in a room till they talk about their feelings. Communication is key.
I already left a pretty lengthy comment about this, but Yayima is doing the vast majority of the work in this relationship.
Sure, Torikai confessed first, but after that? Yayima is the one who asked him out on an actual date, planned more dates after that, gave him a house key, took him to his favorite restaurant, celebrated his accomplishments, and even suggested they move in together. At nearly every major step, it's been Yayima taking the initiative.
To the point that even Yayima points out that the only thing Torikai seems comfortable being vocal about is wanting sex.

Take in mind, at the time they had a fight over the promotion it was also torikai who didn't communicate.
And honestly, the whole "he hasn't said 'I love you'" argument doesn't matter much anymore in my opinion. It's pretty clear, thanks to his awful ex, that even if he had said it, Torikai would still be treating the relationship like it's destined to end. Not if it ends, but when.
I love your comment and I agree with some of it, but I think Torikai has also made huge progress because he said that, if they ever break up, he won't blame it on him being a man (and Yajima being "straight" originally) and after that he said that he's never letting go of Yajima, which took some balls. so I think that Torikai is definitely committed to the relationship and is just trying to minimize any possible hardships that can come from them being a gay couple. he might also be a bit surprised by how fast Yajima fell into a relationship with him and I think he's a bit wary about moving things too fast, so that Yajima doesn't get overwhelmed or feel pressured or something.
anyway, the way Yajima asked him to move in was also kinda lame since he framed it as just being convenient and cheap. I think Yajima is kinda making a similar mistake that Torikai made with the promotion, in that he's changing how he perceives things and acts in their relationship based on input from Torikai's ex.
this is actually what I love about this manga, the characters are complex and the plot is very believable
See, you get it. It's not even that I disagree with the other comments in response to mine - but yours is the only response that understood my point. The progress happens when both sides communicate, and both of their approaches have flaws in different ways. Doesn't mean they're equal in their problems, but you can't have communication by yourself. They both need to lay EVERYTHING out.
And yes, to the one reply, the "I love you" argument very much still matters, because it's exactly Torika's trauma. It's something very, very important left unsaid. People may not always understand actions alone. There's a million reasons why. It is very important to tell the people you love that you love them. Again, not saying that this makes him equally as shitty at communication. OBVIOUSLY Torikai is worse at it. It's like, not even an argument. But it takes two to tango and these two are dancing nonstop.
Back to your comment though sumanai, I agree wholeheartedly that I enjoy that things are complex and feel real. I can't wait for the communication payoff with them both. I'm hoping they lay everything out to each other after this mess.
Of course I agree with all the wanting to beat up the stalker, but this chapter also made mad with goddam Oto falling asleep when the subspace potential felt high! I yearn for that deep trust and losing themselves ლ(´ڡ`ლ)
So I hope they get a restraining order on this bitchass and then get back to being safe with each other
Oh ffs did one person dislike this because I commented on something other than the stalker, which is *obviously* the more important issue? I just wanted to bring up *another* topic, cuz plenty of posters already had that topic covered - like the one about it being SA. Very true post! Hence I said "a restraining order." Of course it's serious. But this is also yaoi manga, so forgive me the sin of *checks notes* wanting loving sex rooted in trust between consenting partners.

Alright we've come full circle back to the start - now can they communicate fully before I explode from stress
