like i think bc of anya's part of the series they thought this was always supposed to be for kids and stay fluffy. which is CRAZY because this series starts off with a car crash explosion, this has always been a shounen series. it's also a deeply, DEEPLY political series. over and over again, it critiques governments going to war and forcing normal people to take part and it also critiques blind loyalty to your government. it's the classic question: your family or your country?

the romance has always been a nice side plot. and their love is blossoming so beautifully because even without saying "i love you," they have shown each other how much they deeply care about the other. yor provides loid a safe space by just being her supporting self and loid gives yor confidence talks all the time to reassure her. they protect each other and they genuinely go out of their way to support each other. If you call that boring, you just have a shit attention span and want instant gratification.

if you just wanted a fluffy romance and you can turn your brain off to, i don't think you should've chosen a show with a spy, an assassin, and a child experiment. because they're very sweet but also this is as much about them as it is about the fragile political state they live in.

and ngl it brings me great joy that people complain about how slow their romance is as a straight couple, because that just shows you how good the plot is that people are THAT invested in their relationship because their relationship is building so well. bc lets face it, a lot [key word *not all*] of shounen straight couples are either never fully developed in a series or just not compelling. but twiyor are a very compelling and nice couple to root for. and take it from me, i make yaoi out of every series i like. but for sxf, i love loid and yor so much because their relationship is actually compelling to see
