I went to it enjoying it, but it just seems to be the same stuff. I'm currently on chapter 70+ while writing this so I may not be accurate but oh my lord. It's literally nothing bigger, and sometimes the art is TMM for the story.
LIKE.PLS. She meets someone new, she gives her speech on love, and wtv wtv, they center themselves around her. Her maid, a nothing burger who revolved around her, her brother A NOTHING BUTGER WHO REVOLVES AROUND HER, the only other people we see more of are her mother and father.
AND EVEN THEY ARE NOTHING BUT BURGERS, BORING TROPES, A REINCARNATED GIRL WHO KNOWS EVERYTHING, EMPEROR FALLS IN LOVE WITH HER. I expected more from the recvomendations i had been given just for it to be a NOTHING BURGER. NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING. Anytime a new character is introduced I'm ready to expect them to be smitten, UNLESS IT'S IN UR FACE THEYRE NOT.
The only time I HAD BEEN INTERESTED WAS WHEN SHE WAS POISONED. MOST COMPELLING THING IN THIS DUDE.
And her love interest, dear lord. Ofc there's a difference between the modern world and a fictional world, but they couldn't have made him younger?? Or her older when he falls inlove?? Why is a 8 yr old and 12 yr old have intimate moments?? Is that not uncomfortable to read???!! And when she had been poisoned and her stare at her, IT ERKED ME BAD that it was described as "intense". SHES EIGHTTT,
This is a boring read
Rereading i realized how harsh the review sounded. It isn't bad, it's just a nothing burger, as in going in and expecting more only to be met with disappointment.
There was potential, but it wasn't put to use. The characters are bland, including the MC, and overall I'm just not a big fan of that.
And I'm not a big fan of kid romance being made as intimate, which is why I dislike the romance aspect of this.
It's a boring read, but it isn't horrible.
Honestly, I struggle to enjoy looking for BL these days due to the dynamics between the main characters. And I'm not even talking about toxic love, in a way I am. But it's because the too is almost always made darker...
And no, I'm not nitpicking at all of these. But the majority just feels iffy. The top is tall buff and dark, and the bottom is small, petite, and pale. It reinforces the idea that darker men are similar to beasts. YES, it is that deep. And if you look at who is writing these, it's occasionally someone of lighter skin. The most common occurrence in these, is that the top REPEATEDLY harrases the bottom. And if not, the top is a slave and the only good person in his life is his master, with a savior complex
A prime example is taming the tiger.
It's not even just BL, it's the same with hetero manhwa. The fl is someone in need of saving, and the barbaric dark handsome ml, who is feared by everyone just loves her.
And everyone just eats it up, is it not strange that the darker males are seen as animals who are aggressive, rude, and barbaric? And the roles are seldom reversed.
RARELY is a darker person in manhwa portrayed as dainty, petite, and just vulnerable. And the amount is significantly less than the classic pale savior trope.
FORBID someone points it out in the comments of the manhwa, because suddenly ur boring, and a party pooper.
Growing up, I stopped reading BL and plain Shoujo. As an adult who can now recognize abuse, I can't enjoy them anymore. They are all stories with some sort of abuse, especially BL, and gets romanticized. Sold as something normal. This is not right. I find it disgusting. I sold all my BL mangas because of that.
I wholeheartedly agree, the stories are riddled with the romanticization of abuse. And if young teens are exposed to that enough, they begin to excuse it. Which is why topics that should be common sense are argued about so much.
Can i get a bl reccomendation where the bottom is the darker than the top. I just noticed a recent pattern where the darker one seems to always be protecting the one with fair complexion.. and it's been bothering me(;＞_＜;)
