Yes, he realised that the name had an effect on both of them and he was curious whether this contract dating would lead to a proper conclusion of his experiment, but technically if you want chapter 33 is from ML’s POV overall and kind of explains his complicated feelings, he thinks of it as an experiment but also he is feeling attracted not sure if its from the name or something else.

one thing i dont understand about this is why the sex hirts SO much. Cause feelings weren't involved initially. They did it because they were obligated to do it in order to help the mc with the name tag. It was pretty much forced from both sides they were pretty much strangers, not to forget that ml was straight. So ofcourse, they didn't feel pleasure since it was more like a task.
